Job Hunting

After all the parties and greetings from friends and families for graduating in college, what comes next then?

Yes! exactly, the job hunting process is a must! especially for fresh graduate (like me! ;) who eagerly wanted to have a job!

I personally thought it would be as easy as it could be, but I might be wrong by that, , there might be a lot of venues to look for a job, there's newspapers, the internet and even recommendations from your family members and friends, and what makes it more pretty hard is deciding where to go and what type of job you should really go to? Series of scheduled interview are always there, mails from companies and just even sending your resume online are really making a mark already to the employers. But have we go for it? have we risk our time and efforts into it? Some may say yes, but others may not, because not until we're fully decided with our course of field in the future we cannot fully decide as to where to spend our careers.

I personally applied for numerous big companies in the countries, I received scheduled interviews for some but still waiting for others to call for me. I cannot really focused as of now, I have a lot of dreams and it kills me pretty hard! I wanted to have a job already but as of now, "PATIENCE" might be just the only virtue I should have. :)

Good Luck on my future decisions! and to your decisions as well!

College over!

March 18,2013 - Fleur de lis Theater
After 4 years in college, I was able to fulfill one of my ultimate dream, that is to graduate with a degree with the course I am very comfortable and happy with.

Studying college was not easy as first, it is a mixture of fun and pressure, fun since you're learning a lot everyday and gain a lot of experiences, pressure -- because you also think about of your future that lies ahead of you.
People around you try to control over your decisions and even give you pieces of advice but then turn out to pull you down. Certain problems do come my way while studying but thankfully I was able to surpassed it, maybe not all of it, but most of it. And I am proud of what I have accomplished in my life so far.

Like what everybody is telling me, "another chapter is just about to unfold" and to be in the real world would be far different from my college life. It might excites me as of now, but hopefully I could be successful in the near future.

Cheers to all who graduated as well!! #happy2013 :)

Me, as a PR intern

office @ FCC
Nothing can hide how happy I am to become part of a PR firm here @ Full Circle Communications, Inc. located here in Ortigas, Pasig City.I have learned a lot of things from my experience as an intern, and was also able to love the industry of Public Relations more than ever.
with ate Michelle Estrada (MRO of FCC)

Newspaper monitoring for the clients has been my everyday ritual and assignment first thing in the morning. Looking for various articles and PR materials for various clients of the company is always a must.

with VP Binay @ Crowne Plaza, Ortigas for the BPP launching event

Assisting through events is one of the most enjoyable things I’ve done during my practicum, I was able to see and greet various media people and personalities.

Going on a front row for registration was also part of our task.

UST, Seminar byPRSP

Friends and co-practicumers that I’ve shared my time with, without them, it wouldn’t also be as enjoying as I it would be.

with Co-Interns

With the freebies and products that were always given to us.

Working inside a PR firm, is a mixture of work and fun, you work while enjoying doing it anyways. Building up relationship and the skills to do it was also one thing I’m gonna keep in mind.A month of my internship in the company was really worth working for. In as much as I also wanted to continue it, maybe another industry still awaits me. <3

Radio Tour

DWIZ with Mr. Rey Langit

When we wanted to listen to certain news and announcements,  we consider  tuning  on thru  radio, it also through that medium when new songs and music can be heard, new artists who promotes their albums and concerts but have we ever thought to ourselves, how do a radio station really looks like?, I mean, the entire production of it, the faces of the dj’s and even the equipments used.
It was June 20, when me together with 5 of my groupmates had actually had the chance to visit certain radio stations as part of our requirements. At first, it was totally hard, since making appointments for a radio station was pretty difficult, there were instances where you can be rejected nor ignored simply because you don’t have the so-called “koneksyon sa loob”. But after so many trials and help from our dear friends, we first got a schedule to be in DWIZ, where we’ve interviewed the station manager, Mr. Rey Langit. It feels so great hearing his experiences as he starts the industry that may really serve as a learning for us students as we happen to just start with the mass industry per se.
Just one of the lines that was uttered by Mr. Langit, that made me realize
“opportunity might only come once, so once you have it – you have to give in your 100% into it”
how important a single opportunity is, since there were certain instances
in my life where I tend to ignore this and that and always assure that
there would be a next time, but I guessed I’m wrong on that! In other
words I have to be very opportunistic and to grab every chance that could
help me to improved my skill and to become better on my chosen field.
Those experiences of Mr. Rey that he shared would surely stock into my mind for long.
So, after an hour of interview with him, we got the chance to visit its F.M radio station 97.9 home radio on the dot where the dj’s were also very accommodating although were not scheduled to be there, still, they’ve entertained us. But when it comes to the whole production of the A.M station and the F.M station, it feels like the F.M are more relaxed comparing it to the A.M, where it dealt more on broad news and social issues where on the F.M, it tackles more on entertainment, music, dedication and the like.

DZEC

And so, after staying there for a while we’ve then visited DZEC, upon going to the place,  I’ve realized how important it is to know the exact location of it so that, you might not end up going back and forth on  various streets and places (like what we’ve experiencedJ) and then, it was thru DZEC where we saw the different rooms for the whole production, we’ve really witnessed how  things do work  inside the radio station including the announcers the director and same with the technicians on board.
Although it is true that radio could really be a part of our field on the future, still, it feels so nice that how as early as today, there is a certain mindset that instills into our mind where we could also indulged into radio station if that;s the field we could excel forJ

A teacher, who: me?

The SKP summer kindergarten program finally started this April 25, 8 o'clock in the morning for the orientation with the parents and some introduction as well on different subject matter and as part of its orientation, the students were all asked to introduce themselves and to state what they’ve dreamed to become in the future.

Some says, they wanted to become doctors, soldiers, nurses and even policemen, but what caught my attention was the dream of some students to become a “teacher” for it reminds me of my dream when I was just also by that age. To become a teacher! Yes!, and I’ve recalled my childhood where me and my friends use to play “teacher-teacheran” hahaJ and I’ve always wanted to become a teacher! Although I know the fact that my friends were even much older than I do, they’re more knowledgeable when it comes to different things and staff, but as I age, that dream that I have, eventually fade away, I don’t know why? But maybe because I’ve realized how hard it is, to stand up the entire period of the class, and kept on shouting just to call for the attention of all the students.

But as I recall those memories that I had, those dreams that I wish to achieved before, it just eventually leave a smile on my face thinking that it could just only be a part of my impossible dream. Since I’m pursuing Mass Comm. Right now, my mind is really focused on what I’ve wanted to achieve on the present. But it sounds funny how I eventually volunteered to become one of the Para-teacher of SKP to teach and to share what I can to little children. Well, I guessed it just merely means that I no longer really have to become an educ. Student just to teach because I could still become a teacher even on my own little way.

Future Media Practitioner

“Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. It is to bring another out of his bad sense into your good sense”.
What got me honestly to Mass Communication Program was the field of Broadcasting, Events Organization, Public relation, Theater Arts and same with the TV and radio production; that I thought I could definitely excel.
Well, I like my course and I definitely loved  it , I felt that the field really suits me and my personality, for my likes  are all into it as well.
I’m just an incoming 3rd year student in this upcoming school year, so, my knowledge about Mass Communication  might not be that broad as of now and there are still a lot of subjects and things that I need to study and to tackle too. But to tell you right away, well I’m definitely enjoying it. So, I would just like to share to you my experiences as a Mass Communication student from the day that I’ve started learning it.

To begin with, as of now, were fond of attending different seminars that deals with the topics that would most likely help us in the near future, we were meeting different speakers that are truly credible enough on the said field.

There were also instances wherein we were able to meet directors: commercials, films, art, indie film directors and etc... That give us prior knowledge on certain things one should consider if ever we wanted to continue on the field of cinema.

with celebrities

It is indeed really fun as well, when we come to see distinctive celebrity personalities either from the film or from the television industry. It feels great when they’ve come to be very accommodating that they let us to take pictures with them; and being polite to respond to some of our questions. That let us to become more sociable and to forget our shyness.

What I also loved about  my chosen field is when we were assigned to organized certain events even just inside our classrooms, we tend to make short films and video presentation already and showcase it to certain audiences such as students and some professors as well. There were also some instances where we were also hosting a program or to become a presenter on certain events, that really helped us to boosts our self-confidence no matter where we are.

Moreover, Theater Arts is also a part of the Mass Communication program, wherein we were able to express ourselves through acting, dancing, and singing. It also helped us to become more comfortable as to performing to large number of audiences and to present in front of them.

Those fields were just some of the fields being tackled through the Mass Communication Program; so, I hope to learn more about it in the near  future to come.

Mass Communication students may seemed to be easy-go-lucky to other people, but they didn't know that being a Mass Comm student it is as tough as any other courses in the field of education even in the real-life situations. Being in media is a very tedious job and being a Mass Comm student also has great responsibility to face. Being a Mass Comm student has a lot of trainings to do because to be in the media industry that is very broad world. We may not know how to heal wounds like nurses, we may not win the case just like lawyers do, we may not be as intelligent as mathematicians but we, Mass Communication are also can be heroes and not just good heroes but great leaders that could also create a huge difference on our society.
